Welcome

Welcome to Year 3’s class page. Here you will find out some information about timetables and class expectations. Year 3 marks the beginning of KS2, which means the children will be starting to work more independently on a variety of exciting and fun themes. For example, we will study the Ancient Greeks, learning about the ancient God’s and Goddesses of their times, as well as explore the Myths and Legends of the many heroes and beasts found then. We will become super scientists through our many topics such as Light and Shadows, Forces and Masses, and Rocks and Fossils.

Year 3 also marks an important year for the Catholic children in their journey through the Sacraments. This year they will take part in Reconciliation and then make their First Holy Communion. These are very special times which will help bring the children closer to God. More information will be given to you about these events closer to the time.

Home learning

Home learning will be given out each week via google classrooms.

Each week there will be a specific piece of work linked to a recent Topic.

Also:

• Please remember that reading should be done nightly, and Year 3 staff will check reading records regularly to make sure it is happening.

• Times table practise - This should again be happening regularly at home to make sure you are confident with the 2, 5, 10, 3, 4 and 8x tables.
• Additional math work will be set through mymaths.co.uk

Ove the year, the child require access to additional websites. The child logins will be given out at the start of the year for each website. Please contact you class teacher is you require new logins for any websites. Please see below for links and information of each website.

Accelerated Reader

This gives you access to Renaissance, so your child can log in and quiz on the books they have read. 

MyMaths

This gives you access to MyMaths site where most of the child's maths home learning is posted each week. You then need to log in as the child.

TTRS

This is an independent log-in just for times table rockstar. Where the child can practice their times tables. I will sometimes post tournaments or challenges on here as part of their home learning.

For most of these websites you will need to select the correct school before logging in. The links I have sent should already have done this for you. So, if you open the link and bookmark each one it should be saved for future visits.

General Reminders

• PE: We have PE on Tuesdays and Wednesdays most terms. Please make sure your child's NAMED kit is in school and if they have long hair that it is tied back, or earrings are taken out or covered on those days.
• Pencil cases: Children will not need a pencil case for their work in Year 3. We have everything they need in class. If they have their own colouring pencils, they may bring them in to keep in their trays until needed.
• Forest school will take place in the Spring term a letter will be sent out with more details on what clothing the children will need.
• Water bottles: Please ensure that your child brings a water bottle for the classroom, containing water only.
