Baby animals
Welcome back to our class blog.
It has been another busy two weeks! During both weeks we have continued exploring ‘Animal Crackers’. Last week we explored unusual animals and this week has been about baby animals.
In Literacy last week the children heard the story of the rainbow fish and this week we have read owl babies. We have used our phonics to practise our sentence writing in order to describe something from the stories. This week some children have even written the story in their own words!
In Phonics we have been busy practising reading and writing words that we have seen before, and we have been concentrating on our handwriting and letter formation.
In Maths we have continued to explore doubling and this week we have started to move on to halving - the children can confidently say that double is the same number again and half is when we share something fairly into two parts. The children have started to establish that doubling is when we add two equal amounts together. This week we have made fruit skewers which we linked to our learning about doubles.
Last week we created our own unusual animals and gave them a name. This week we have been busy creating a water bowl for Tilly the puppy!
Please continue to read with your children regularly at home and sign and date their reading records. Just to remind you that book bags need to be in school every day please. Please try to encourage children to keep all books in the book bags, this is particularly important for our weekly trips to the school library.
A gentle reminder to please label everything clearly and children should bring a named water bottle each day.
Please encourage the children to put their homework book in the box (by Wednesday) once they have done their homework. Please complete the homework in the books as much as possible.
Please check the forest school list each week and ensure your child is ready for their session on the day, thank you.
After half term, we expect the weather to continue to be bright and warm. Please send your child to school with a hat, a water bottle and with sun lotion already applied. Thank you. Have a wonderful weekend and a happy half term.
Thank you for your continued support with your children’s learning.
