Easter
Welcome back to our class blog.
Wow! What a term it has been!
Last week our theme was Spring. The children enjoyed learning all about what we see in Spring and they painted some beautiful pictures.
In Maths we have started to deepen our understanding of number to ten by thinking about the missing part and how we can find it. Some children have challenged themselves by writing the number sentences.
In Literacy we listened to the story ‘And Then It’s Spring’ before the children wrote sentences about what we see in Spring and what our favourite things about this season.
This week our theme has been Easter. We started the week with a Pilgrimage around the school, visiting the Stations of the Cross before making an Easter garden.
The children enjoyed a visit from Alice Hemming today. Alice has written a new book called ‘The Leaf Thief’ and she read it to the children. Alice then explained how the story found its way from an idea in her head, to a publisher and into the shops. The children then role played part of the story and each collected an Autumn leaf which they then used to create their own picture.
The children have been working really hard in phonics this week; they have been using their phonics to write words independently, whilst concentrating on their letter formation.
We ended the week with a very exciting Easter egg hunt which was lots of fun!
Please continue to read and practise tricky words over the holidays. There is an Easter-themed piece of homework in book bags this week. Thank you for you continued support with your children’s learning.
We wish you all a happy and safe Easter break.
