St Dominic Catholic Primary

If we live by truth and in love, we shall grow in Christ

Growing things and Woodland animals

This half term our topic is 'If you go down to the woods'. Last week our theme was 'Growing things' and this week our theme has been 'Woodland animals'.

In Literacy we have read 'Jasper's Beanstalk' and 'One Warm Fox'.

In Maths we have been embedding our learning on number bonds to ten. Next week we will begin doubling and halving.

Last week we talked about what plants need to grow. The children all took part in planting some sunflowers and they are all very excited to watch them grow! This week the children have been learning about woodland animals. Today we have had a wonderful discussion all about different animals and we have shared our knowledge and experiences. The children were particularly excited to hear all about the skunk!

In Phonics we have finished learning all of our sounds and we are now putting it all into practice. We have started learning Phase 4 sounds and what they look and sound like in words. Each day we are practising writing words with different sounds.

Please do continue to practise at home!

Library trip - thank you to those of you who have offered to help escort us. I will give forms out to those of you that I need next week - they will need to be filled out and handed into me or the office.

Please keep all reading books and reading records inside your child's book bag.

As the weather warms up, please ensure your child comes to school with a water bottle, a hat and sun cream applied.

Thank you for your support

Have a lovely, warm weekend
