Harry Potter Studios
This week, Year 4 visited the Harry Potter Studios and had a great time visiting all of the sets created for the Harry Potter movies. We got to see Harry's house on Privet Drive, the cupboard under the stairs, Diagon Alley, the Ministry of Magic, the Night Bus, not to mention the Weasley's kitchen and Harry's dormitory in Hogwarts Castle.
The attention to detail when creating the sets was truly incredible and Year 4 were fascinated to see how much effort had been put in. It was amazing to see Gringotts Bank both before and after it was was destroyed and the children were thrilled to see the animated dragon coming towards them.
We attended an interesting lesson that explained how the animators make things look large and small, when on the screen, by using interesting tricks to fool the viewer. Did you know that Hagrid was often played by a 6 foot 10 inches tall rugby player who took the place of Robbie Coltrane?
A good day was had by all and we enjoyed our first trip of the year. My thanks go to the parents who helped us at the studios.
The other news in Year 4 is that soon we will begin our new RE topic - Called - where the children will learn what it means to be called to do God's work. In Maths, we are currently looking at rounding to 10,100 and 1000 and the children are gradually becoming confident in this skill.
Parent Consultation evening is soon and I look forward to meeting you all to discuss your child's progress. Please book your slot on the automated system.
