No Place Like Home
Welcome back to our class blog.
It has been another busy two weeks! During both weeks we have started exploring our new topic ‘No Place Like Home’. Last week we explored ‘My House’ and this week has been about ‘Different kinds of homes’.
In Literacy last week the children heard the story of the A Place Called Home and this week we have read Two Homes. We have used our phonics to practise our sentence writing in order to describe something from the stories. The children were encouraged to describe pictures of various houses, too.
In Phonics we have been busy practising reading and writing words that we have seen before, and we have been concentrating on our handwriting and letter formation.
In Maths we have started to learn about odd and even numbers. The children know that an odd number cannot be shared evenly into two parts, and an even number is one that can.
Please continue to read with your children regularly at home and sign and date their reading records. Just to remind you that book bags need to be in school every day please. Please try to encourage children to keeps all books in the book bags, this is particularly important for our weekly trips to the school library.
Please encourage the children to put their homework book in the box (by Wednesday) once they have done their homework. Please complete the homework in the books as much as possible.
Please check the forest school list each week and ensure your child is ready for their session on the day, thank you.
A gentle reminder to please label everything clearly. Please send your child to school with a hat, a water bottle and with sun lotion already applied. Thank you.
Thank you for your continued support with your children’s learning.
