November 2023
In year 4, we have started lots of new topics and we are enjoying learning about our new Geography unit - Three Giant Steps. The children have been learning about the Port of Dover and how close it is to Calais. We have looked at the various ways that people travel between Dover and Calais and how the English Channel is the most direct route for ferries and boats. This week, we learned about the difference between human and physical geography and Year 4 were very good at identifying them in our class quiz.
In RE, we have been learning about Other Faiths and we have looked at the importance of the Torah in Judaism. Later this week, we will also learn about Bar/Bat Mitzvahs and how this is an important milestone for Jewish children. We have just completed our topic "Called" and the pupils in Year 4 presented their work and learning in a short presentation, which was impressive. They were able to talk knowledgeably about their learning.
Our All Saints' Mass was a lovely occasion and I was very proud of Year 4. They read the Liturgy of the Word and brought up the Offertory, showing great reverence. Thank you to the parents who attended.
We look forward to seeing many of you at the Christmas Fair where the children will be able to buy some little gifts to give their families for Christmas. Rumour has it that Father Christmas may be there too!!
