St Dominic Catholic Primary

If we live by truth and in love, we shall grow in Christ

A is for Alien!

This half term our topic is 'Blast off'. The children have been exploring lots of different aspects of space - we are really enjoying this topic!

Last week we learned about the planets and this week has been called 'A is for Alien'.

An alien called Bloop crashed his spaceship and wanted to know what school was like. We created pictures and playdough creations of what we thought Bloop might look like. We have also been drawing planets and using our phonics to write about them.

In Literacy we have read 'Ten Little Aliens' and then used our phonics to describe some of them.

In Maths we have started to explore spatial thinking. We have made obstacle courses with the wooden blocks outside and with other resources, and have practised using words like 'under, over, through' etc.

This week ended with a fantastic visit from the planetarium - the children really enjoyed it and loved sharing their new knowledge about space!

We continue to learn new sounds each day, so please do continue to practise at home!

Please keep all reading books and reading records inside your child's book bag.

Thank you for your support

Have a lovely weekend
