St Dominic Catholic Primary

If we live by truth and in love, we shall grow in Christ

Prayer and Liturgy

This week, our school governors visited Year 4 to participate in an Act of Prayer and Liturgy.  Three children, Ava, Bea and Alice from the Chaplaincy Team, led our liturgy and they were very reverent and well prepared.  The class listened carefully to the Gospel and took onboard the mission to perform as act of kindness every day.

Our class have also made a Lenten Promise to act and think carefully when they are with their friends.  We hope that as Lent progresses, we will all be a little bit more like Jesus in all that we do.

This month, our Golden Moments are focussed on forgiveness and it is a lovely Gospel value to recognise.  In Year 4, the children are sincere and quick to apologise and forgive each other.  It is a trait that will serve them well in life and is a clear example of our Christian beliefs being lived out daily.

We will soon take part in the Stations of the Cross as part of our Lenten preparation and the Mini-Vinnies will be helping to fundraise for a worthy charity as part of our almsgiving.

In RE, we have been looking closely at the structure of the Catholic Mass and studying the Penitential Rite and the Communion Rite.  The children have learned so much about the Bible scripture and sources that form the basis of many of the prayers that we say within the Mass.

We are almost half way through Lent and Year 4 are taking time to focus on our school mission statement "to grow in Christ".
