If we live by truth and in love, we shall grow in Christ

Reception Sports Day

Welcome back to our class blog.

It has been another busy two weeks! During both weeks we have continued exploring our new topic ‘No Place Like Home’. Last week we explored ‘Pet’s Homes’ and this week has been about ‘Wild animal homes’.

In Literacy last week the children heard the story of the 'The Three Little Pigs' and this week we have read 'Can’t you sleep little bear'. We have used our phonics to practise our sentence writing in order to describe something from the stories. The children were encouraged to write about different animal habitats too.

In Phonics we have been busy practising reading and writing words that we have seen before, and we have been concentrating on our handwriting and letter formation.

In Maths we have started to learn about counting beyond twenty. The children were shown a large group of objects and were encouraged to think about how many they thought were there. They were then shown how to use the tens frames in order to count them in groups of ten and therefore beyond twenty.

This week has ended with a wonderful sports day! It was so exciting and the children did an amazing job - they showed so many of our school values! Thank you for coming and supporting the children.

Please continue to read with your children regularly at home and sign and date their reading records. Just to remind you that book bags need to be in school every day please. Please try to encourage children to keep all books in the book bags - this is particularly important for our weekly trips to the school library.

Please encourage the children to put their homework book in the box (by Wednesday) once they have done their homework. Please complete the homework in the books as much as possible.

Please check the forest school list each week and ensure your child is ready for their session on the day, thank you.

A gentle reminder to please label everything clearly. Please send your child to school with a hat, a water bottle and with sun lotion already applied. Thank you. Have a wonderful weekend.

Thank you for your continued support with your children’s learning.
