Settling into school life!
Welcome to our class blog.
Firstly, a huge well done to all of the children - they have settled in so well and adjusted to our school routines really quickly!
This half-term our topic is ‘Humpty and Friends’ and within that there is a theme each week.
Last week our theme was ‘Eggs’. We read and learned the rhyme ‘Humpty Dumpty'. In Literacy the children enjoyed sequencing the story, acting it out and decorating their own eggs!
In Maths we continued our learning about subitising and the children were encouraged to describe what they could see in an arrangement of objects.
In RE we started our first topic ‘Myself’. The children talked about their names and how precious they are.
We also started phonics at the beginning of the term and the children have made a great start - hopefully they are sharing their learning at home with you! We have now started to blend our sounds in order to read words.
This week our theme has been ‘Mice’. We have been reading and learning the rhyme ‘Three blind mice’.
In Literacy the children have created mouse puppets. They have sequenced the story and in groups have created mouse factsheets using facts learned in class.
In Maths this week we have been concentrating on counting. The children have been encouraged to count one object at a time and in the correct order. You can practise this at home.
In RE this week we have continued with our ‘Myself’ topic. The children have talked about why their name is special and as a class we listened to scripture in which God tells us that he knows our names.
The children have also made a great start in PE - Mr Simmonds is very impressed!
Please continue to read with your children regularly at home and sign and date their reading records. Just to remind you that book bags need to be in school every day please.
Thank you for your continued support with your children’s learning.
Have a lovely weekend.
Miss Day
