St Dominic Catholic Primary

If we live by truth and in love, we shall grow in Christ

Spirals!

This half term during Art and Design, the children have been finding out about the Danish artist Molly Haslund who created drawings outside using her body as a drawing tool. A variety of different materials were used by the children to create lots of different spirals using their bodies to create.

During English, the children have continued with their autumn poems and worked hard to write their own poem inspired by fireworks. Next week, we will begin a new e-book called Who Lives Here? Through this book, the children will be writing factual sentences about animals and writing a nature diary.

In Maths, the children have been subtracting numbers using a variety of resources and finding out that subtraction is not commutative and cannot be done in any order.

We have completed our RE topic on ‘Belonging’ and have spent this week learning about Judaism. We listened to the story of Abraham and then created pictures to represent the promise that God made to him. We have also been learning about some of the symbols related to the Jewish faith.

During Science, the children will be observing the changes in weather across the seasons and recording the daily temperature. This will enable them to compare the differences in the temperatures between autumn and winter.
