St Dominic Catholic Primary

If we live by truth and in love, we shall grow in Christ

Welcome back to our class blog!

Another two weeks have flown by!

We have continued with our topic ‘Happy To Be Me’. Last week our theme was ‘Harvest’. The children sequenced the story of the little red hen and used their phonics to describe how the characters were feeling. This week’s theme has been 'who's in my family'. The children have looked at family photos and drawn pictures of them.

We have continued with our phonics teaching. The children are working hard and grasping the sounds. Please practise with your children at home.

In Maths we have started to explore measures and how to compare them. We have started using the words 'tall', 'short', 'long' etc.

Children will be coming home with a book. This is a book for pleasure - it is for you to read to them, for you to enjoy together. They are not expected to be able to read it.

This week the children will now be bringing home a reading book as well as their book for pleasure. Please encourage your children to read or share their book with you as often as possible and sign and date the reading record. There are lots of questions and pointers in the front and back covers of the books to help you.

Thank you.

Please make sure all belongings are clearly named.

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
